Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha recently announced that the government will postpone the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Shkoder region until issues regarding its potential impact on the environment and territory are fully resolved, AENews reported.
''Nuclear energy is the cleanest and most economic, but the Fukushima catastrophe dictates a reassessment of the impact in Shkoder,'' Berisha said in Podgorica after talks with Montenegrin counterpart Igor Luksic. Berisha stressed that the Shkoder zone, and the entire territory including Albania and Montenegro, are a highly active seismic zone.
