Kyiv, November 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft agreement with the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan about the joint participation in the International uranium enrichment center in Angarsk, Irkutsk region, Russia.
The Cabinet of Ministers passed a respective resolution on November 19 2008.

It is expected that, among other things, the commission will discuss the signing of a long-term contract for the supplies of Russia's nuclear fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants after 2010. The Russian corporation TVEL is proposing to ink an agreement until 2025, but Ukraine has not yet decided on a term for which it would like to order the fuel. Ukraine's proposed participation in the international uranium enrichment center in Angarsk in southeastern Siberia could also be brought up.
As the nuclear industry enjoys a global revival, Kazatomprom is positioning itself to overtake Cameco as the world's largest producer of uranium. It said in July that it expects to achieve this as early as next year, rather than in 2010 as originally planned.
The progress of Kazakhstan's national atomic company is to a large degree due to the vision of its charismatic president Mukhtar Dzhakishev, helped by the country's substantial uranium reserves and the Soviet technical legacy.
Kazakhstan may have relinquished its arsenal of nuclear weapons after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but it is seeking to expand its role in a variety of atomic energy-related fields. YEREVAN, March 6 (RIA Novosti) - The Armenian government authorized on Thursday the establishment of a joint venture with Russia for the additional prospecting of uranium deposits in the South Caucasus republic.
Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the Armenian environmental ministry agreed in February to set up a joint venture on a parity basis for the additional prospecting of Armenian uranium, which will be enriched in a specialized international center in Angarsk, East Siberia.
MOSCOW (AP): Attackers dressed in dark clothes and wielding metal pipes raided a camp of environmentalists protesting nuclear waste processing at a Siberian chemicals plant early Saturday, killing one activist.
Witnesses say the attackers shouted nationalist slogans as they rampaged through the forest tent camp near the city of Angarsk, about 4,200 kilometers (2,600 miles) east of Moscow. But police rejected suggestions that extremist groups had masterminded the attack.
