Serbia has officially stated its interest in becoming one of the investors in Bulgaria's project to build a second Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in the Danube town of Belene.
The official letter was sent to Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, from his Serbian counterpart, Mirko Cvetcovic.
In the letter, Cvetkovic voices the desire of the Serbian Energy Ministry to examine the documentation on the NPP. After that the Serbian side is to make the final decision on the country's participation.
Borisov has ordered the Bulgarian Economy and Energy Ministry to provide the requested information ASAP.
About two weeks ago, the Serbian daily Blic wrote Serbia will attempt to increase its share in Bulgaria's future Belene NPP from the initially proposed 1% to up to 5%.
Also then, Serbian Energy Minister, Petar Skundric, reiterated the country's interest in the NNP, but also pointed out more time was needed in order to make a final decision.
