Loss of a type A package between Saclay (France) and Nuremberg (Germany)

On 23 February 2004 the Schering company (CIS bio international) notified the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) that a type A package containing radioactive material for radiopharmaceutical use, shipped on the 20 February, has been lost during its transport between Saclay (France) and the consignee, an hospital located in Nuremberg (Germany).
This type A package consigned by CIS bio international (France) contains a limited quantity of Rhenium 186 (At the time of the shipment the total activity was 374 MBq).
The French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) has notified the competent authority of Germany.
Due to the loss of this radioactive package, the competent authority of France has rated this event at level one on the INES scale.
